THE EASTERNMOST HALF MARATHON IN THE UNITED STATES
THE 7th ANNUAL COUNTY OPEN HALF MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON RELAY
SATURDAY, AUGUST 11TH, 2007 - 8AM
HOULTON, MAINE

The County Open Half Marathon (13.1 miles - certified course) is a one of a kind race for runners living to the north of Bangor, Maine. Runners begin the race just pass the 3rd hole of the Houlton Community Golf Course on Drews Lake Road, traveling through the rolling hills, past the scenery of Drews Lake and the surrounding back roads before finishing back at the former Lake Road Market. With minimal or no automobile traffic, the race has become a big favorite of runners who prefer a quiet, natural course.
The Purse - Runners in the race will be competing for a purse of $1,300 broken down as follows:
1st place male and female - $250
2nd place male and female - $150
3rd place male and female - $100
First place male and female Masters - $100
New course record - male and female - $50
Other prizes will also be awarded to the top finishers in various age divisions. The race has been included in the Aroostook Musterds summer circuit promising a competitive race between runners from around the state of Maine and Eastern Canada.
The County Open Half Marathon/Relay – For those not quite feeling up to the full 13.1 miles, The County Open Half Marathon/Relay allowed runners to form relay teams of between 2 and 4 runners to compete. Each runner will run 3.1 miles with the last runner finishing with 3.4 miles. Awards will be presented to the top finishers in the all male, all female, and mixed categories. The race is run on the same course and at the same time as The County Open Half Marathon.
When - The County Open Half Marathon and Relay will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, August 11th, 2007.

Are You Ready for The Challenge?
The County Open Challenge offers athletes the chance for a true workout – first by competing in the Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in the morning and then the 25 mile bike race in the afternoon. Combined scores will be the measuring card for the awarding of prizes.
To register for the challenge, please fill out either a Half Marathon/Relay registration form or County Open Classic registration form.
