Health Services Foundation's Current Project: "Fighting Breast Cancer at the Local Level". This year the Foundation has taken on an exciting new project to bring state-of-the-art Digital Mammography equipment to Houlton Regional Hospital. This is a special campaign for the Foundation since fundraising was done in 2001 to purchase current mammography equipment that was state-of-the-art at the time.  The Foundation’s charge is to now bring our hospital into the state-of-the-art digital era for mammography screenings.  This very serious healthcare issue will have the Foundation fundraising in support of a $385K campaign to provide for the purchase of this vitally needed equipment, allowing for much earlier breast cancer detection.  This equipment means quicker processing, superior imaging and Will Save Lives.  Your support of this significant project will fill a vital need for our rural healthcare providers, and offer this service locally for those who must currently travel a fair distance for digital screenings.
